Any advice about Purchase Ledger?

I've just started working in accounts payable/Purchase Ledger and everything is so hectic and there is so much to know. Does anybody have any advice about anything at all to do with this part of accounts? I would really appreciate it!

This time of the month is usually hectic in the finance department of most companies as they are working towards month end close of accounts. All Invoices and other expenditure have to be keyed to sage or whatever system is used to enable the management accounts to be presented to the board of directors. Accounts usually is a busy department and one month seems to roll into the next but don't worry, It will get easier as you get used to it.
