Can anyone give advice about buying cell phones off ebay?

i found a cell phone i want on ebay. im sure it will work with my company.. verziwon... but i never shopped on ebayCan anyone give advice about buying cell phones off ebay?
my recommendation, check that the esn (electronic serial number) is clear..you have no idea how many phones are out there that has been declared lost/stolen or owe money to the company..(even if the phone looks brand new, it's better to be safe than sorry) mm check out the ratings of the seller..(just to see if he's delived everything) mmm and of course, check out the actual picture..don't go for the fancy one of the new phone...it usually never looks that way...well, good luck and happy holidaysCan anyone give advice about buying cell phones off ebay?
Be sure to look at the seller's feedback ratings. If their feedback is less that 99% do not buy from that seller.

Be sure to read all the terms of the sale. If you have any questions write to the seller throught the Ebay system
I wouldn't touch ebay with a fifty-foot pole.
make sure it says unlocked or verizon on it. or else it could be locked into another service like cingular. if your current phone has a sim card then its ridculously easy to change phones. just pop the card in the new phone and its done. if not, you'll have to take it by your company and get it changed so you may be charged a fee. i've bought 5 cell phones off of ebay with no major problems. the last one however is an unlocked phone and was not with my service, so I had to call my company and get the numbers to setup the voicemail and the messaging server. but i still saved about $200 on my last phone so it was well worth it.
I've bought a couple cellphones from Ebay and they've turned out fine. Just make sure that the phone you want is CDMA compatible since that's the network that Verizon is using. Also, you have to buy an OPEN LINE phone... unless the seller tells you that it is Verizon compatible.

Btw, always always check the ratings of the seller. The three phones I bought (over time) all came overseas. So you want to pick a seller with a good reputation. If you buy from someone rips you off, it's harder to get it fixed if the seller is on another country.
